Tulsa's New Bob Dylan Center

Tulsa's New Bob Dylan Center

In 2016, Tulsa University, along with the George Kaiser Family Foundation, acquired Bob Dylan's invaluable archive of music. Part of the collection will remain at the Helmrich Center for American Research - Tulsa University Research Center and part of the Gilcrease Museum - but the majority will be made accessible to the public at the new Bob Dylan Center.

The main sponsor of the George Kaiser Family Foundation has commissioned Seattle-based architecture firm Olson Kundig to plan and design the new center. Kundig was most recently responsible for the renovation of the Seattle landmark, the Space Needle. At the same time the address of the center and the planned opening date has been announced. Where there is currently a parking lot, on the corner of Archer Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, a new building will be built in the heart of the Tulsa Arts District, north of Downtown. The new Center should be open in 2021.
