A holiday with a difference!

Family owned since 1860 - now that’s really something!

In 1860, a piece of land north of the university town of Lawrence KS (today, just 45 minutes from Kansas City Airport) was settled by the Stewart family. Extensively renovated and still in use today, are the original buildings from the time of those first pioneers, including the outhouse (c1862), and the old horse stable (c1911) - now serving as a wedding chapel.

In 1998, Mary Beth Stewart and Jack Cronemeyer opened the six-generation family-owned Circle S Ranch & Country Inn on the site. When you approach the building, it looks like a big barn, and a lot of wood was used inside as well. Not only new, but also building material from previous buildings has been recycled and put to imaginative use. For example, the old grain silo was turned into a hot tub.

The Country Inn’s twelve spacious rooms - more like suites - are spread over three floors, each with its own guest lounge and drinks station. Each room is designed differently, all very lovingly and tastefully, down to the smallest detail. Some have open fireplaces or whirlpools and all have different names, such as the Celestial Room, the Fishing and Trail Rooms, or more rustic - the Cowboy Room.

Breakfast is included, and guests can get to know the ranch business (horse rides or hay rides are offered), or enjoy the extensive spa treatment services. Thanks to its location in a beautiful landscape, there are other leisure activities, too, such as hiking and fishing. The Inn is also located at the intersection of various historic trails, such as the Lewis & Clark and Oregon Trails), so it is well suited as a starting point for road trips.
